Parking
Parking is available on Gordon Terrace at the rear of the property and a permit for one vehicle is provided for your use during your stay. If there is more than one vehicle, you will have to use meter-controlled parking bays in the vicinity.
By Air
Inverness Airport is at Dalcross, about 10 miles east of the city. There are regular bus services from the airport into the city centre bus station. Taxis are also available – it is best to ask the driver to take you to Gordon Terrace, because there are parking restrictions on the northern end of Culduthel Road. If you hire a car from the airport, follow the signs to the A96, head south-west in the direction of Inverness, then use the directions below in By Car – from Aberdeen.
By Bus
There are several inter-city bus and coach services to Inverness from other parts of Scotland or from major cities in England. These generally arrive at Farraline Park bus station in the city centre, close to the railway station. Dunvegan is less than 2/3rds of a mile (approx 1km) from the bus station. Taxis are available close to the bus station.
By Rail
Trains arrive at the Railway Station in Academy Street in the heart of the city. Dunvegan is less than 2/3rds of a mile (approx 1km) from the railway station. Taxis are available immediately outside the railway station.
By Road
FROM THE SOUTH (A9 FROM EDINBURGH, GLASGOW, PERTH, STIRLING)
Leave the northbound A9 at the junction marked Hilton and Culcabock (B9006). At the roundabout, take the 5th exit (Old Perth Road). Pass Raigmore Hospital on your right. At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit (Culcabock Road). Pass the golf club and Kingsmills Hotel on your left and move into the right-hand lane at the traffic lights. Turn right into Kingsmills Road. At the next traffic lights, take the 2nd exit into Crown Street. At the end of Crown Street, turn left at the T-junction into Ardconnel Street. After 50 yards, you will pass the entrance to Argyle Terrace on your left. From this point, Ardconnel Street becomes Gordon Terrace which is a one-way street where you will find residents’ parking bays – 3 on your left, followed by 5 on your right.
FROM THE NORTH (A9 FROM THURSO; and roads from WICK, LAIRG, DINGWALL)
Leave the southbound A9 at the junction marked Hilton and Culloden (B9006). Turn left at the traffic lights. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit (Old Perth Road). FROM THE EAST (A96 FROM ABERDEEN, ELGIN, NAIRN)
As you approach Inverness you will pass underneath the A9 which runs north-south. About 0.7 miles further in towards the city centre along Millburn Road, there are traffic lights in front of a large Morrisons superstore. Continue through these and the next set of lights. As you pass underneath the Eastgate Shopping Centre, move into the left-hand lane before the third set of lights and turn left into Crown Road. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to Midmills Road. At the pedestrian lights, follow the road round to the left and move into the right-hand lane at the next set of lights. Turn right into Crown Street. At the end of Crown Street, turn left at the T-junction into Ardconnel Street. After 50 yards, you will pass the entrance to Argyle Terrace on your left. From this point, Ardconnel Street becomes Gordon Terrace which is a one-way street where you will find residents’ parking bays – 3 on your left, followed by 5 on your right.
FROM THE WEST (A82 FROM SKYE, FORT WILLIAM, LOCH NESS)
Cross the Caledonian Canal as you enter Inverness, continue along Glenurquhart Road, Tomnahurich Street and Young Street. As you prepare to cross the River Ness, move into the right-hand lane. Drive up Bridge Street and after passing the Town House on your right, turn right into Castle Street. Move into the left-hand lane at the traffic lights and then turn 1st left on to Old Edinburgh Road. Turn 1st left on to Mitchells Lane. Turn 1st left on to Argyle Terrace. Turn 1st left on to Gordon Terrace which is a one-way street where you will find residents’ parking bays – 3 on your left, followed by 5 on your right.
ALL ROUTES
Walk down Gordon Terrace until you come to stone stairs on your right, leading down to Culduthel Road. Turn right at the bottom of the stairs and the entrance to Dunvegan is the first gate on your right.
